Describe a public holiday celebrated in your country? When it is celebrated? Why it is celebrated? What people do on that day? What you do on that day
There are so many public holidays celebrated in my country but here I would like to talk about a special holiday and we celebrates it with great fervour and enthusiasm, which is independence day. This day is celebrated on 15th of August. This day is most auspicious day in the history of India. This is the day when the chain of slavery was broken as under after hundreds of years of foreign rule. Independence day is celebrated in every state in India and twenty - one gunshots are fired in honour of the solemn occasion. On this day Prime Minister raises the national flag on Red Fort in Delhi and gives an address to the nation. Moreover, on that day parades and cultural events take place in Red Fort by the students from different parts of the country. I like everything about it and it is the great day to remember the supreme sacrifices of great leaders and freedom fighters. I celebrate this day by hoisting our national flag in our house and then attend the national parade in the early morning. I often take my siblings to our college cultural programmes on that day. The celebration is important as we need to teach the importance and value of freedom to the present generation.
